Yep. We have almost made it to the end of another year. I consider that a win. I hope you do too.
These last couple of weeks of the year tend to be a bit of a muddle. It seems that it’s hard to get much done because of the holidays and trying to get everything ready for that. Even if you aren’t hosting a party or family, if you are just attending anything, things can get out of hand before you know it.
I wasn’t expecting to be suddenly busy this past weekend but sure enough. It all started with an unexpected invite to a drop in for Saturday. Before that was haircut day on Friday, which had been on my calendar for months so not a surprise. But then, I ordered some supplies from Guitar Center for pick up at the store. I didn’t expect them to be available until after Christmas. But I got an email that half the stuff was ready for pick up. And to go with that I have a guitar that needs repair. So first off to the haircut which is a 30 or so minute drive and then from there out to Guitar Center to get my stuff and drop off the guitar for repair. The Guitar Center is 30 minutes from me in the opposite direction of from my haircut. Then to get groceries and home to start making cookies.
I did pick up a little extra with the supplies at Guitar Center. I was browsing the website and found this lovely tea mug that I decided I needed. It’s fab. It’s 14 ounces so a nice big cup of hot tea. Not that it’s still hot by the time I finish drinking it.
Of course, on Saturday there was the last Taekwondo class of the year. There was also baking those cookies and then going to the drop in. It doesn’t seem like that should be a lot. But the cookies took a while to bake and then there was all the clean up to go with it. We didn’t stay long at the drop in, just a couple of hours. Even so, by the time I got home, I was pretty well done for the day.
Oh before all that, I did get started on the next part of the VR class. Again, these two weeks, it can be a little tough to focus so I haven’t gotten very far. I’m hoping to make that up the next couple of days. I would say that I’ll have more time for it because we have the week off from Taekwondo. However, I’ve pretty much booked something in it’s place.
I’ve been meaning to try Yoga for a while because it should help with flexibility and balance for Taekwondo. The frustrating bit has been that just about every beginning Yoga class near me conflicts with Taekwondo. So with being off from kicking things, I’ve
decided it’s the perfect opportunity to give it a go. Which means, no extra free time for catching up or getting ahead on the class. I have already had my first Yoga class and, wow, I didn’t expect to be quite as sore, and definitely not there. I will say, my back, that has been a bit fussy the last week or two, sure feels better. I did that on Sunday and then headed over to see my parents and have dinner with them. That was nice. A nice treat.
I had a nice quiet Christmas Monday. I listened to some music, played a little guitar and worked on the Ovation painting. I was wanting to do that and the VR class before the day was out. I chose the painting first, just because of the lighting. The way I’m set up to work on that, getting the lighting right so it doesn’t glare and I can see where I’m putting dots is tricky. The light from the window from about mid-afternoon until it disappears, is really good. So, since it wasn’t terribly overcast and dark I opted to work on the painting. As you can see I’ve finally got the pattern completed. I want to go back and do some additional
coverage of the crimson.
And the more I think about it, the more I am inclined to do it before I start the second color of red. Once I finish the additional crimson I have to decide if I’m going to do the last two strings and frets next or the other red. It’s a little of a tough call for me because doing the strings and frets will really start to pull it together for the complete look, however getting the second red in will also make it start to look even more complete. Decisions.
In the mean time I will be getting to that VR class. I do want to finish it up and even get going on my final project. I’m still planning on the Christmas themed application and I think I’m going to need to find some nice sound clips to go with it all. That should be nice and tricky. Adding multiple sound clips. At least, I’m guessing there will be multiple sound clips. Ah well. I will get it figured out.
At some point I may have to ramble on about a couple of the music cd’s I’ve picked up this winter. I’ve found some gems that I’ve really been enjoying. For now, I’m off work on VR, play and paint guitars.
