Sometimes we run into set backs to our progress. It can be an injury, it can be an event, it can be a loss, or a distraction, or something fun that we want to do that takes longer than expected, it can be a shift in priorities, it can be a holiday, it can be an illness. A lot of the time it is getting in our own way that does it, but it looks like any of the above or something else. Yes, some things we might have little control over, that’s a discussion for another time with someone probably more enlightened than myself. Suffice to say, I got in my way last week.
Here I was with the whole week off from the day job and only a few commitments given it was a holiday. I had before me the time to get really far on my VR class homework and project and I didn’t. I could list all the reasons I was having trouble with it and none of them were because it is hard. It’s not. But my whiny inner 8 year-old got out and I had a bit of trouble reigning her in. So, since she got to run amuck for so long I got to spend the week with a sinus infection. It was a good excuse to avoid homework for a while. She’s been placated and is now playing with her Lego bricks off in her bedroom somewhere and I’m starting to get back on track.
One of the assignments, that I had been putting off, was to use Google Street View and create a panoramic image. I had been putting this off because I thought I was going to have to install something else on my phone and I get tired of that. As it turned out, it was already on my phone. Yeah. This ended up being kind of cool. You are prompted at which point to take the pictures and when you get done they all get stitched together. Here’s my picture. I took it in the parking lot of a local store.
About my inner 8 year-old. She was a little helpful. I bought some fancy bar soap and wanted some sort of dish or rack to put it on instead of it getting all messy on the sink. I looked around but realized I didn’t have any. But I’ve got Lego bricks. So I made a very basic holder for my soap. See. It’s working quite nicely.
While I was avoiding my homework and being ill, I played some guitar. I played more than I was ready for and so had a few days of tender finger tips. Since I am refreshing my skills, it was fun, and even worth it. Once I could finally breathe a bit better so I wasn’t dripping on the canvas, I also got back to some artwork. The Ovation painting got some love this weekend. There was a point where getting even this much done seemed overwhelming. It’s a large piece for the style which means it’s just going to take more time. It’s coming a long nicely, I think. I’m thinking about adding the final two strings before I finish up the other side. Then again, the string color is going to be close to the fret color so I could change my approach.
I know, I said I would have more pictures this week. I think I do, by one. I will need to do some modeling for my next VR project and I’m about ready to get started on that so the picture potential is getting higher.
And before I go. It is the Holiday Season. In my opinion it isn’t until 6:00 pm on Thanksgiving Day, that’s when the Christmas Music can start and I don’t cringe. Anyway, it is the Holiday Season and you might be looking for cards. Don’t forget you can find
