So, I have an iPad and I have apps on it. I like the free apps most because I can try them out and if I don’t like them or decide I don’t want them then I can delete them without being out any money.
I have a variety of apps, a couple of games, a few news apps, a couple of specialized news apps, a basic drawing app, and some utility apps. All things I knew I wanted or had a need for, with the exception of the games and a couple of specialty news apps.
The games I found by browsing the games category in the App Store. Have you looked at how many game apps there are? Holy cow. News apps aren’t much better as it seems like every news affiliate in every city has their own app.
With so much to sort through I decided I’d see how well the Genius function works for the App Store. At first it kept trying to suggest children’s books and TV news apps for stations in different towns. There were a few suggestions for some art apps and some music apps.
Every time I checked with the Genius I would mark each app that I was not interested in, hoping this helps it refine its suggestions. It kind of has. I think when I started it was suggesting as many as 16 different apps. The number has decreased. It still keeps suggesting some network news affiliate in this town or that. Ugh. Though I don’t get offered or suggested children’s books so much now.
Just a little while ago when I checked for updates to my apps I also checked to see if Genius had any interesting ideas. I think it has given up because it only had three and they were ones it has suggested before.
Poor Genius. I think I may have stumped it.
